Nolan and Mommy like to catch butterflies too. We caught a pale swallowtail earlier.

1 WEEK LATER IN THE COWICHAN VALLEY...


Rich at a clear cut out Hillcrest Road near Duncan...how could he possibly know he would find the elusive HOUSE WREN only moments later...

And then we hopped in the car and decided to see just where this Hillcrest Road went. Eventually we came to an open gate marked Chemainus River Park. Hmm. On we drove. Rich had a feeling we would see a Barred owl that day. So occasionally we played the Barred Owl CD very loudly and looked around. No luck and THEN....in it swooped silently to a branch directly above the car. Rich excitedly pointed upward and Nolan and I joined in the total satisfying excitement that comes when the bird you have been calling shows up.
